Dr. V. N. Kamat, Principal of MBICT
|
Principal's Message
|
“Thank you for considering Madhuben and Bhanubhai Patel Women's Institute of
Engineering (MBICT) as an institution of choice for pursuing higher education."
|
India has been riding the crest of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
wave and has made considerable progress since the 1980’s that saw the first indigenous development of state of the art switching systems at India’s premiere
Telecom R&D laboratory – C-DOT.
|
To cater to the manpower needs of the ICT sector,
dramatic changes were required in technical education. It was necessary to establish institutions with new courses that
specifically address this need and equip them with sophisticated laboratories having modern equipments and knowledgeable
teaching staff.
|
The second change that India has been witnessing over the
last two decades is a social one. Education is an important means of empowering women with knowledge, skills and self confidence.
Empowering women leads to economic liberalization and self esteem, and this has a ripple effect within the family, leading to
socio-economic progress of the entire community across generations. Women are becoming conscious about their equal rights and are
expressing their desire to exercise them. Unlike the old brick and mortar industries that were male dominated, the new ICT industry
is witnessing a steady increase in the percentage of women serving it.
|
Madhuben and Bhanubhai Patel Women's Institute of Engineering (MBICT)
was established to cater to the changed technological and social scenario described above. MBICT is the first women’s engineering college
established in the state of Gujarat, affiliated to Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Equipped with electronic and computer laboratories internet facility with good bandwidth, library with computerized catalogue and issue systems, sophisticated
language laboratory, and other modern infrastructure, it is the first of its kind in Gujarat State and the only one in Anand district, that is geared to take
on the ICT sector.
